IU was thrilled to see that the COnstruct 2 community was the one that put me back on tracks for DiVeR the game, especially the person that Scirra hired to develop their support to the commuhnity; @Kyatric.
He came up with a much more elegant solution in terms if C2 programming. It took me a while to expand it and make it fit the inventory/quest driven story we want to have in the game.
Yet, it was a huge step, especiallyknowingit took me a month to develop a dialogue system, whch still had flaws that made the task become a monstewr that woud hide in the closet...
Thus, dialogues system figured out, now creativity and narration can finally take its due place in the game and will also teach me plenty of new challenges on how to convey a story and emotions to the player via dialogues.
The art will change also to fit some game mechanicns that have been added months ago. As we re protoyped the game, we have now better options for lighting and level creation.
At last, I am glad I started DiVeR from scratch, I really see it as a necessary evil; too much in the code was depending on a behaviour that proved itself to be the wronf choice for this type of game. Unfortunately, replacing it would have broken the game in parts that I could barely keep track of anymore.
So we have the concepts down, don't worry, I will not reinvent the wheel, I will just try to make it more efficient .
